Perfection is such a controversial topic in today’s society. Nobody wants to claim perfection, because those proclamations will be met with scrutiny and disagreement.
I am not a perfect woman, and far from it. But in case you’re looking for her, society has a distinct blueprint. Society has a list of Do’s and Do Nots to be like the “perfect girls” we see on social media, tv and movies.
Don’t be pretty. Don’t be ugly. Don’t look average. Don’t wear makeup, because it shows that you’re vain. Don’t go bare-faced, because it shows you don’t care about yourself. Don’t be fat. Don’t be skinny. Don’t be fit.Don’t be weak. Don’t be this or that. Do this. Don’t do that. And the list goes on.
So many standards, if you try to live up to other’s expectations on how a perfect girl should be and look like, you are only going to drive yourself insane and will feel like you will never be good enough.
F**** what the world thinks of how a girl should look and how a girl should act.
Be perfect in your own way.
Stop wasting your time trying to obtain perfection. The world wants women to believe that you must be a barbie look-a-like to be “the perfect girl”. But that’s far from the truth, beauty comes in many shapes and forms, and is in the eyes of the beholder.
“The girls who were unanimously considered beautiful often rested on their beauty alone. I felt I had to do things, to be intelligent and develop a personality in order to be seen as attractive. By the time I realized maybe I wasn’t plain and might even possibly be pretty, I had already trained myself to be a little more interesting and informed.” –Diane von Furstenberg from her book Diane: A Signature Life
I am perfect the way I am, now, I’m not claiming to be perfect in every aspect of my life, but overall… I think I am.
When I say I am perfect it means that I consider myself to be absolute and complete. I truly believe that I am perfectly happy. I am perfectly enjoying my life. I am the perfect version of myself.
Looks may open doors, but brains and personality take you across the threshold.
I encourage you to stop comparing yourself to other women, know your flaws and love them, anyway. We all have flaws. We are human. The point of being “perfect “isn’t that you’re flawless, but that you feel complete and whole in yourself. This means loving yourself for who you are. There are things that perfect girls do that show their unique beauty, and it has nothing to do with their physical image.
A perfect girl loves herself
Every day when you look at your own reflection say positive things in the mirror every morning. This one is probably the toughest to master, just because many girls are incredibly critical of themselves. But if you really want to be a perfect girl, look in the mirror and say positive things to yourself.
Coming to understand yourself, liking who you discover, accepting the imperfections and celebrating and capitalizing on the strengths is exactly what a best friend who loves you unconditionally would do. Be your own best friend.
The most important relationship in your life is the relationship you have with yourself. Because no matter what happens, you will always be with yourself.” – Diane von Furstenberg
A perfect girl is kind
Be happy for other people when something great happens. Most people tend to feel jealous when something positive happens to someone else—especially if they’re struggling with something, themselves. But a perfect girl doesn’t do that. She is happy for other people when they accomplish great things in their lives. Being able to put yourself aside and appreciate the fortunes that are bestowed upon other people is a huge indicator of a perfect girl.
A perfect girl is selfless
Put others ahead of yourself. Selflessness is something that everyone should strive for throughout their lifetime. If you put someone else’s emotions, well-being, and happiness above your own, you can become a perfect girl. Not only do perfect girls think of others first, but they put actually put their happiness above their own and go out of their way to assist those around them.
A perfect girl is always evolving
Nobody should ever feel like they’re “done” with themselves. Although perfect girls feel complete and whole, they know that even in their completeness, there is always something they can do that will push them further in their perfection.
A perfect girl knows she is imperfect.
A perfect girl knows that she isn’t 100% perfect in every aspect, but she recognizes and loves each and every one of the flaws she has. This is important to becoming a well-rounded human being in general.
Being a perfect girl isn’t all about looking a certain way. It’s more about being happy with yourself and being a truly great individual. These are all of the things that make a girl perfect.
The perfect girl you wish to become is already within you, she’s simply waiting for you to find the courage to let her reveal herself to the world.
